Mohamed Rouhli, head of the sports desk at the daily “Bayane Al Youm”, stressed that the CAF Excellence Award for the year 2022, awarded to HM King Mohammed VI, represents a recognition of the Sovereign’s efforts, not only in the sports field, but also on the economic, political and social levels.
He noted that this Excellence Award confirms that Morocco is a leading country in Africa and is the pride of all Africans thanks to the exploits achieved by national football on a continental and international scale, led by the qualification for the last four of the Qatari World Cup, adding that the Kingdom hosts major sporting events as well as African selection matches.
And to continue that the announcement by HM the King of the joint candidacy of Morocco with Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup was a significant moment since it will give a strong boost to the African orientation of the Kingdom.
For his part, Aziz El Kabba, head of the sports desk at the newspaper “Aassahra Al Maghribia”, indicated that this distinction from HM the King in Kigali highlights the various achievements of the Kingdom in all areas, including football.
He stressed that the historic feat of the Atlas Lions at the Qatar-2022 World Cup is the crowning achievement of the efforts made by HM the King to develop sport in Morocco, affirming that the rise of national sport is the fruit of the wise and far-sighted policy of the Sovereign to make this sector a lever for development.
Journalist and sports analyst, Hicham Ramram, considered, for his part, that this Excellence Award recognizes the place occupied by Morocco on the African scale and confirms that the successes achieved on the sporting level are the fruit of the insightful vision of HM the King.
He added that this distinction is a recognition of the Sovereign’s efforts to achieve overall development, including in the sports field.
For his part, Hicham Bentabet, head of the sports desk at the daily “Al Alam” noted that the CAF Excellence Award 2022 is a source of pride for all Moroccans and comes in recognition of the achievements made under the reign of HM King Mohammed VI, and the sports infrastructure of world standards with which the Kingdom is endowed.
He noted that the message addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the participants in the second National Sports Conference in Skhirat (October 2008) constituted a new turning point in national sports policy and gave new impetus to Moroccan football.
This distinction is a recognition of the efforts of HM the King for the development of national and African football, he added, recalling that Morocco has enabled several African football federations, which do not have fields that meet continental and international standards, to play their matches on Moroccan fields by providing them with all the necessary logistical means.
