England captain Harry Kane sums up the defeat against Spain in the Euro 2024 final with the phrase “wasted opportunity”.
In the quick interview zone, at the Olympic stadium in Berlin, Kane sums up the game:
“The game was very difficult but we managed to come back when we scored the equaliser. We felt some difficulties there and it is difficult to accept the suffering at the last whistle”, he said.
The forward said: “During the tournament we had to follow the result, we knew this resilience was something we had, but in the end we didn’t manage to win the game. In the first half the opponent was better, in the second half we were better and with the goal we could get motivation”.
“It’s a wasted opportunity, in these types of games you have to grab him with everything and we couldn’t do that, it’s very difficult and he’s going to be injured for a long time”.
Despite this, the experienced player looks forward: “I promise the fans that we will return to the final and above all we want to win with Gareth Southgate”.
Remember England lost the last two European finals. This Sunday against Spain, 2-1.
