Caixa Econômica Federal filed a complaint against former president Pedro Guimarães to return six mobile phones purchased by the bank.

If Guimarães does not return the devices, the financial institution claims R$ 45,000 (US$ 9,000), an amount calculated from invoices referring to purchases of iPhone model equipment.

Bank sources say that it will not be possible to return the cell phones because they were broken during Guimarães’ rage.

The former president’s lawyer, José Luis Oliveira Lima, described Caixa’s measure as “another political move by the current leadership, which attacks the excellent management of Pedro Guimarães at the head of the institution.”

For its part, Caixa maintains that the devices, “delivered to Mr. Pedro Guimarães for the development of his activities, in the exercise of the presidency of Caixa”, were not returned upon his departure from the institution.
