SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Caixa Econômica Federal had a recurring net profit of 1.9 billion reais in the first quarter, down 23.9% from the same period of the previous year, the company said in an earnings report this Thursday. fair.

The total loan portfolio of the state-owned bank amounted to more than 1 trillion reais in the quarter ended in March, an increase of 16.6% compared to the first three months of 2022.

The financial margin grew 30.4%, to 13.9 billion reais, with emphasis on an increase in revenues from credit operations (41.6%) and in issues of derivative securities (38.8%).

In the first quarter, loan portfolio revenues totaled BRL 29.3 billion, with growth in the annual comparison in real estate loans, for individuals and companies, sanitation and infrastructure and for agribusiness.

The default rate in the quarter rose 0.4 percentage points in 12 months, to 2.73%, influenced by a specific customer in the sanitation/infrastructure sector, the company said. Disregarding this customer, the index would be 2.38%.

Caixa’s shareholders’ equity totaled 124.5 billion reais, an increase of 5.4% in 12 months.
