He Legislative Administration Council (CAL) has qualified, this Wednesday, May 8, 2024, for processing the impeachment process against the former Minister of Energy and Mines, Andrea Arrobo due to the energy crisis facing the country.

This decision comes after the non-binding legal technical report was received from the Legislative Technical Unit (UTL), which evaluated whether the necessary requirements to prosecute Arroboas established in article 80 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function (LOFL).

Now, the process will be carried out in the Oversight Commission of the National Assembly. However, you will have to wait your turn, as there are approximately nine pending impeachments that are currently being reviewed.

The impeachment request was presented on April 24, 2024 by the legislators of Construye, Ana Galarza y Jaime Morenoand by the Social Christian Party (PSC), represented by Vicente Taiano. The request was supported by 40 signatures and accuses Arrobo of failure to perform duties in relation to the energy crisis.

“For us it is important that the country knows the truth. These blackouts cannot remain in vain, there must be sanctions for those responsible for the omissions and breaches of duties“said Galarza.
