Calanque on reservation in Marseille: “Next time, I will do it three days before”

by time news

There were the far-sighted and the disappointed this Sunday, June 26 on the way to the Calanque de Sugiton in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône)… The Calanques National Park has indeed inaugurated its reservation and QR Code system to access, a first in a French national park.

“We had received a notification via the Mes Calanques application and the radio had also talked about it. We booked Thursday without any problem, ”say Thomas, Adrien, Dimitri and Yoann, tourists who came from Franche-Comté for the weekend. “We understand this measure, it is a protected place and there were probably too many people and waste. »

The National Park recalls testing this measure to cope with overcrowding in Sugiton, 2,500 people per day, while the gauge is now at 400. This created phenomena of “very marked erosion” endangering the fragile vegetation. Violations will be punished with a fine of 62 euros by park officials.

“I tried to book on Saturday but there was already no more room”

“I tried to book on Saturday but there was already no more room. Suddenly, I’m going to have to go to another creek further away, ”says Gilles, who came from Aix-en-Provence to run in the sun and end up swimming. “Next time, I’ll do it three days before, as soon as reservations open. »

“I’m disappointed, we came specially and we didn’t know that we had to register,” admits Alba, a Montpellier resident who came to celebrate a birthday with friends living in South America. “We are going to look for another calanque where access is free. »

This reservation system will still be in effect next Sunday and then every day from July 10 to August 21.
