CALDARO. The Carabinieri of the Caldaro station seized a firearm dating back to the Second World War, found inside a private home.
Last morning, the military intervened, at the owner’s request, at a house located in via Giungano, where a Walther model PPK pistol, 7.65 caliber, with serial number, manufactured in 1931 and in used by the German armed forces during the Second World War. The weapon was discovered during the renovation of an attichidden under the floorboards of the attic of the house, currently owned by a citizen residing in Caldaro.
The current owner declared that he was not aware of the presence of the gun inside his home, given that the previous owners had long since passed away. The weapon, which was not registered in the official databases, was immediately seized by the police, who informed the judicial authorities.
The weapon was in good condition and in working order, equipped with two magazines and was housed in an original leather holster used by the Wermacht in the Second World War.
The gun will now be preserved by the carabinieri waiting to be deposited, subject to the approval of the judicial authority, in a historical museum.
