Several political and allied actors are launching an appeal for the release of Me Mohamed Ziane “before it’s too late”. Journalists Omar Radi, Toufik Boucharine, Souleymane Raissouni, benefited from a royal pardon on the occasion of Throne Day, are among those who signed the appeal in favor of the former president of the bar, aged 81.
An initiative that emerged the day after a solidarity visit to Mr. Jian’s home on August 10 by a group of political, allied and media actors.
On July 19, the Rabat Court of Appeal sentenced Mohamed Ziane to five years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams. As a reminder, in May 2023, the Court of Cassation confirmed Mohamed Ziane’s sentence of three years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams, expressed in the verdicts of first instance and on appeal against the former president in February and November respectively 2022. Ziane is detained in El Arzat prison.
