The commander of the Naval Academy, Abdul Rahman Milad, nicknamed “Al-Bidja,” was killed when his car was targeted by gunmen in the Sayyad area, west of Janzour, Tripoli.
A source from the Emergency Medicine Department in Zawiya confirmed in exclusive statements to Libya Al-Ahrar that Al-Bidja was killed after being shot by three cars that targeted his convoy after he left the headquarters of the Naval Academy in the Sayyad area, according to the source.
Against the backdrop of this targeting, Al-Ahrar correspondent in Al-Zawiya reported that the city witnessed a state of security tension.
In the same context, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, mourned the commander of the Naval Academy, stressing that he had assigned the Ministry of Interior and the competent authorities to open an urgent investigation into the incident of targeting him.
Dabaiba said, via his official Facebook account, that he followed the details of what he described as the “sinful” operation that targeted Al-Bidja, adding that the latter had made efforts to rehabilitate the Naval Academy and graduate new batches from it after a hiatus that lasted more than a decade, in addition to his efforts for reconciliation in his city of Al-Zawiya, according to him.
The Presidential Council member, Abdullah Al-Lafi, also mourned “Al-Bidja,” stressing that those involved will not escape punishment, according to him.
Al-Lafi said on his official Facebook account that Milad was keen to resume the duties of the Naval Academy, to be a tributary to the state’s defense institutions, according to his expression.
In turn, Khaled Al-Mashri mourned “Abdulrahman Milad”, praising his role in ending the disputes and calming the situation in Al-Zawiya, and called on the Attorney General and the concerned authorities to reveal those involved in the incident and bring them to justice.
