The Executive Coordination of the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) lifted the suspension of the environmental contingency due to ozone and its measures in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM), starting at 3:00 p.m. today.

This decision is based on the Programs to Prevent and Respond to Atmospheric Environmental Contingencies in the ZMVM, published by the governments of Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

Hourly ozone concentrations have decreased, falling below the levels established in the program to end the contingency.

The Mexico City Air Quality Monitoring System reported that the high pressure system has lost intensity in recent hours, which has led to a reduction in atmospheric stability and an increase in ventilation in the Valley of Mexico.

This has allowed the formation of clouds and better conditions for the dispersion of pollutants.

CAMe noted that it closely follows the evolution of air quality and meteorological conditions, reminding the population of the importance of following recommendations to protect health and reduce polluting emissions.

The CAMe is a coordination body for the planning and execution of actions regarding environmental protection, preservation and restoration of the ecological balance in the region that makes up the Megalopolis.
