Simo Djonou

As expected for several days, Jean Claude Simo Djonou, former general director of Sonara from 2016 to 2022, has just been appointed head of COTCO. A look back at the sponsorship of this protégé of Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency.

It is now official since the board of directors of COTCO (Cameroon Oil Transportation Company) held this Thursday, February 15: Jean Claude Simo Djonou is the new CEO of this strategic public company responsible for the transport of hydrocarbons in Cameroon.

This enarque known to be close to the Minister of State Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh is seen as golden resettlementa few months after his controversial ousting from the General Management of SONARA in 2022, after 6 years of reign.

A contested record at Sonara before his retirement

Remember that his time at the head of the national oil refinery ended in an astronomical debt accumulation of more than 900 billion FCFA and an inability to finalize the construction project for the new Limbe refinery.

Despite this mixed record, this native of the West can count on the unwavering support of his mentor Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh to bounce back. Hence this surprise appointment to COTCO which he will have to straighten out, while he was about to assert his retirement rights.
