Governor Layda Sansores San Román issued the declaration of Preventive Emergency in the 13 municipalities of the State due to the current trajectory of the meteorological phenomenon “Beryl” with the purpose that the Civil Protection Secretariat (Seproci) initiate the special emergency procedure and coordinate the execution of security measures provided for in the Civil Protection Law.

The aim is to expedite the procedures required so that, in the event of a major contingency situation, emergency support and funds can be accessed quickly and in a timely manner.

Prevention and emergency actions will be covered by the SEPROCI budget and, where appropriate, by the budgetary resources available to the secretariats, departments and entities of the Public Administration for the fiscal year 2024.

The State Civil Protection Council is also instructed to be established in accordance with the Law on Civil Protection, Prevention and Attention to Disasters of the State of Campeche, which will be installed and operated in the Casa de los Gobernadores Cultural Center.

At the meeting attended by mayors and representatives of the 13 municipalities of the state, the Governor responded to the requests of the mayors to support with equipment and machinery the removal and protection of boats and motors in communities such as Isla Arena and the installation of radio frequencies in headwaters, such as in the case of Seybaplaya to guarantee communication.

In fact, today the Governor was notified of the deployment of personnel and equipment from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to the Yucatan Peninsula to provide an immediate response to emergencies that cause the suspension of the supply of electricity in any of the three states.
