Madurai: The Madurai branch of the High Court has instructed its lawyer to get information from the Tamil Nadu government about whether it is possible to monitor the half-day work project through GPS technology.
In the Public Interest Petition filed by Dharugapuram Manikandan near Sivagiri in Tenkasi District, it has been stated that: 100-day work project is going on in Dharugapuram panchayat. Those in charge should serve only for three months. But the incumbent continues there for seven months.
100-day work program engages laborers on privately owned agricultural land. Government funds are used for this. Government funds are wasted. I lodged a complaint with the Tenkasi Collector. Action should be ordered against the concerned. Manikandan mentioned this.
Judges T.Krishnakumar, L.Victoria Gowri bench issued an order: The Public Prosecutor should get information from the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Secretary and report on Feb. 27 whether there is a possibility of tracking a location called GPS accurately from the air with the aid of satellite technology. Thus advised.
