CAN: 2,000 Algeria supporters will only pay 50% of their plane ticket
ALGER, 4 Jan 2024 (AFP) – Nearly 2,000 Algerian supporters wishing to attend Fennecs matches during the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in Ivory Coast (January 13-February 11), will only pay 50% of the cost of the ticket plane, the rest being covered by the State, announced Thursday the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
The president “Abdelmadjid Tebboune, gave directives to cover 50% of the travel costs to Ivory Coast for 2,000 supporters (…), a measure reflecting the desire to bring supporters closer to their team during its matches” , announced the FAF in a press release.
The FAF thanked the Algerian head of state for this “laudable initiative which demonstrates his permanent and unwavering support for the national selection and the supporters”.
The points of sale risk being stormed by fervent supporters who will want to get one of the 2,000 tickets sold at half price.
Coach Djamel Belmadi unveiled last Friday the list of 26 players selected to defend the colors of Algeria at the CAN, where it will play in the first round in group D with Angola, Burkina Faso and Mauritania.
