CAN-2025 qualifiers (1st Day/Gr.B): Morocco wins against Gabon (4-1)
Agadir – The Moroccan national football team won against its Gabonese counterpart (4-1), in a match counting for the 1st day of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco-2025 (group B), played Friday at the Grand Stade d’Agadir.
The Atlas Lions opened the scoring through Hakim Ziyech (10th) who converted a penalty obtained by Abdessamad Ezzalzouli. Gabon had the opportunity to equalize in the 16th minute also on penalty, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hit the post.
A second penalty, awarded to Morocco after a foul on Soufiane Rahimi in the area, allowed Ziyech (26th) to score twice and break for Morocco.
The Gabon Panthers will reduce the score 5 minutes before the end of regulation time of the first half by Aubameyang on penalty.
In the second half, Brahim Diaz tripled the lead for Morocco in the 59th minute of the game.
Coming into play in place of Rahimi, Ayoub El Kaabi (82nd) will quadruple the score for the Atlas Lions.
Morocco, already qualified as host country, is placed in Group B alongside Gabon, Central African Republic and Lesotho.
The final phase of the CAN (Morocco-2025) will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
