New Delhi : With the implementation of CAA, the market of many types of rumors and misconceptions has started heating up in the country. Especially regarding Indian Muslims. Terming all these misconceptions as mere rumours, the Union Home Ministry has clarified that Indian Muslims have no need to worry in any way about CAA. There is no provision in this law affecting his Indian citizenship. The current 18 crore Indian Muslims of the country have the same citizenship and rights rights as the Hindu Indian citizens. Citizenship law has nothing to do with this.
After CAA, no Indian citizen will be asked to present any document to prove his citizenship. In the information given by the ministry, it has been said that CAA i.e. Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 has targeted the victims of persecution on religious grounds in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan and people who came to India on or before December 31, 2014. In order to reduce the suffering, the eligibility period for applying for their citizenship has been reduced from 11 years to five years.
The Union Home Ministry has also clarified that there is no compromise in this law to send back illegal Muslim immigrants living in the country to Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hence the concern of a section of people, including Muslims and students, that CAA is against Muslim minorities. Is completely baseless. As far as taking Indian citizenship is concerned for Muslims living abroad, Section 5 of the Citizenship Act is important. It is related to citizenship on natural basis. Under this, there is no restriction for Muslims from anywhere in the world to take Indian citizenship. In such a situation, there is no restriction in this law for Muslim immigrants coming to India from any other country.
