This battle that the head of government wants to wage on low wages responds to an economic objective, that of increasingly valuing work and ensuring that it pays more than assistantship, even though the priority of the five-year term is to reach full employment, i.e. 5% unemployment in 2027, compared to 7.4% currently. But this offensive is not devoid of political ulterior motives either, because these middle classes who struggle to make ends meet and feel downgraded could be tempted to turn to the National Rally.
