The latter condition is known as hard exudates from the macula, which generally appear with inflammation and cause wear and tear of the vision.
Later, when noticeable symptoms finally appear, hypertensive retinopathy will give the following symptoms:
Double or weak vision.
Headaches.
Visual abnormalities such as halos, floaters, and blind spots.
Sudden loss of vision, although not common.
The only treatment for hypertensive retinopathy is control of high blood pressure although, in severe cases, damage to the nerve or macula can be permanent.
