THE george Daskalakis he died early on December 4, after a long and tough battle with cancer at the age of 49.
The brave battle with cancer and the singer’s messages
Despite the difficult battle he faced with cancer, the singer never stopped hoping and kept his online friends constantly updated on the progress of his health through posts on social networks, with which he sent messages positivity and hope frequently enough expressed.
In an earlier post, he described how his health incident began: “It took us a while to figure out what I have. I was talking to my best man and he told him I wasn’t feeling well. I felt lethargic and had somthing like a pimple under my armpit. It’s not often that we pay attention to something, even though it hurt me, especially when I caught it. I was singing normally,but my birthday came and I had phlegm,I had lost weight,I had lost my appetite. I was singing and fell down. I said I was not well. They told me to go to the hospital and I said no. It was the end of July and I told my mother to go to the hospital, as I wasn’t even breathing. We did x-rays and on the third x-ray, completely by accident, they found cancer in my lymph nodes. That’s why I had all the other problems. I was told that we might be ahead of the worst. Onyl God knows if I deserve to live.”
A partner who stayed by his side until the end
In December 2022, the singer’s partner, Maria Dinori, who was by his side until his last moments, revealed that a blood clot in his leg had left him lying. «George has passed out again due to thrombosis in his left leg. It happened suddenly. He is confined to bed, he even has difficulty going to the toilet», he said typically.
He emphasized, in fact, that his psychological state was constantly changing and where he felt strong and hopeful, suddenly “was falling” and thought he would lose the battle. «George is always thinking about death, he never stops talking about death. Where he is strong,then he takes it from below and tells me “I will die”. I support him with a lot of love and humor”, he had said.

However, with the help of his doctors and his own will, in march 2023 the cancer gradually returned to stage 1, a development he described as a ”miracle”.
In a video he published in April, Giorgos Daskalakis looked very hopeful, as he said “99.9 percent I won the battle with cancer.” In May 2023, the singer announced that he is retiring from singing permanently and would perform one last live performance.
Keeping in touch with friends online, the singer revealed in October of that year that he was back in hospital. “F***ing cancer you are a good player after all… you got a guide, you think huh??? Maybe… But I’m good too though… It’ll show up in a little while in the applause!!!”which he had written in his publication.
The last song before his death
Despite the difficulties he had with his health, Giorgos Daskalakis did not stop being artistically active until the end, because in March of this year he uploaded a photo in which he was in a studio recording a new song.
In the scene he was standing upright, he leaned on a crutch.

a week after the release of his new song titled “Se informo”, Giorgos Daskalakis died.
Music composer Nikos Terzis announced the unpleasant news via a post on Facebook,writing: “Ah,George… If possible… I’m glad you were happy. How unfair life is.”
