Globally, the number of people who died from cancer in 2020 reached 10 million. By 2040, it may reach 28.4 million, Wafa Al Hashash said, citing the World Health Organization. Estimates indicate that one in five people worldwide will be affected by cancer. It is estimated that one in every eight men and one in every 11 women will die from cancer. Al Hashash also pointed out that new statistics indicate that cancers of the colon, uterus, lung and thyroid are common in women. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. 21 percent of women develop breast cancer. In women, the risk of colon cancer is 11 percent, and the risk of thyroid cancer is 7 percent. Colorectal cancer is the most common in men – 14 percent. In men, the incidence rate of prostate cancer is 13 percent and the incidence rate of lung cancer is 7 percent. Breast cancer accounts for 40% of all cases in women. Wafa Al Hashash said that thyroid gland cancer is 11 percent and colon cancer is 8 percent.
