HELMOND-OOST The Circle, regional center for life with and after cancer, is organizing an interactive evening on Wednesday 22 March at 7.30 pm on the subject of ‘Cancer in your relationship’. Clinical psychologist Sanne van den Bos interviews practitioner Jaap Luikenaar, who wrote the book ‘Man op de mammapoli’, about this subject. The evening is free and the address of De Cirkel is Evertsenstraat 19 in Helmond.

The impact of cancer is huge. For those affected, but also for the partners. You don’t read or hear much about those partners. They find it difficult to talk about it. It’s not a topic for your friends at the cafe. They therefore prefer to remain in the background. Yet that is unjustified, because their lives are also turned upside down. Jaap Luikenaar writes blogs about this and the book ‘Man op de mammapoli’. With a smile and a tear, because you also experience beautiful and funny moments during that time. He says: “I am not a psychologist, I do not have a white coat and I am only an expert by experience. I want to show how important partners are. After all, you have cancer together. And if partners feel good about themselves, that also benefits the patient. Together you can make it a loving period during the cancer.”
