Cancer risk; The patient spoke in a foreign language accent that he did not know until then!

When a person suffers from a bad disease, he becomes physically and mentally exhausted and exhibits various qualities like hatred, irritation, anger. But a 50-year-old man with cancer has spoken another language he’s not even familiar with.

A 50-year-old man living in North Carolina, USA, is suffering from prostate cancer. Suffering from cancer, he spoke the Irish language fluently.

His family is not in Ireland. He is able to speak Irish despite not knowing the language. On examination, it was found that he was suffering from a rare condition called Foreign Accent Syndrome (FAS).

Duke University in North Carolina and the Carolina Urologic Research Center in South Carolina jointly studied and reported on this rare condition.

It said, “To our knowledge, this is the first case of a patient with prostate cancer suffering from foreign accent syndrome.

He lived in England in his 20s. He had friends and distant family members in Ireland. But until he was diagnosed with cancer, he never spoke with a foreign accent.

Also there was no abnormality in neurological examination. No history of mental disorders. Even at the onset of cancer symptoms, abnormal brain damage is not known.

His accent, however, was uncontrollable. That accent gradually changed. His condition continued to deteriorate until his death several months later.

Even when chemotherapy was given, the incidence of cancer increased. This resulted in paralysis and paraneoplastic neurological disorder.

It affects the immune system, brain, muscles and spine of cancer patients. So there may have been a change in the voice.
