On the morning of Saturday, July 27, 2024, the competition for the selection and appointment of judges and associate judges of the National Court of Justice (CNJ) began. The tests will be carried out in three groups with schedules set at 09:30, 11:45 and 15:30.

Prior to this stage, confidence tests were conducted on July 15 and 16. These tests included three components for the 107 applicants: a conflict of interest declaration form, a job skills test, and an honesty test. Despite the controversies and requests for suspension, the Judicial Council (CJ) has decided to continue with the process.

On July 24, CJ authorities, under the supervision of a notary, uploaded 6,000 questions for the technical test to the entity’s computer system. Each applicant will have to answer 1,000 questions from their specialty and 1,000 questions on general knowledge. Of these, 100 questions will be drawn for each applicant (60% from the specialty and 40% of a general nature) on the day of the exam.

The theoretical test will last two hours, and the system will close automatically at the end of this period, as explained by José Luis Tapia, supervisor of the Opposition Phase.
