CDMX.- Although the advance selection by Morena has its advantages in terms of exposure and preparation, it also faces riskssuch as the disqualification of candidates for violations of the electoral law, warns Jorge Zepeda Patterson.

In his latest article, published in VANGUARDIA, the journalist analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the succession advanced in the official party.

Among the disadvantages, it warns of the high risks of falling into legal violations, such as going to court or in court and even suffering the disqualification of its true candidates.

As an example puts the case of Guerrero and Michoacán in 2021where their candidates Félix Salgado Macedonio and Luis Morón, respectively, were disqualified for violations of the law, in this case, for not having reported their pre-campaign expenses.

In accordance with current electoral law, andYou are allowed to campaign until Novemberwhich is why Morena, Patterson points out, “he had to invent a euphemism called ‘Fourth Transformation Defense Committees.’”

The journalist considers that the electoral legislation is inadequate and obsoletewith excessive regulation, for which reason it would be desirable for it to be modified “to avoid the need to infringe them in full view of all”.

“Electoral legislation is the typical case of excessive regulation aimed at concentrating on punctual offenses while let the deadly sins pass”refers.

Despite this, he adds, no current regulation prevents six people from competing to chair a Defense Committee of a party because the position does not exist in the electoral legislation and, therefore, it is not prohibited.

“What is explicitly prohibited before November is requesting financing, requesting votes and displaying promises and projects of what they are going to do if they become president of the country”explains Zepeda Patterson.

for the journalist it will be difficult for the applicants not to break the law, on the contrary “it would be very strange that with so many restrictions they did not break it.”

In this sense, the analyst considers that Morena would have to at least take care of its two main candidates, Claudia Sheinbaum and Marcelo Ebrard, so that they do not end up in a vulnerable situation or, in the worst case, disabled.

“The worst that could happen is that Mexico ends up being governed not by the best that the party has, but by those who managed to remain valid contenders in this contest where many are mere extras,” asserts.

Zepeda Patterson too warns that it is not exaggerating about the danger if the legal setbacks that the Government has faced during its six-year term are taken into account especially by judges.

“There is nothing in the recent past that leads one to think that the Government has a roe deer license or an exemption that allows it to operate above the norms, except for unjustified arrogance,” assures the journalist.
