Cannabis culture: Royal Grace has “profound humanist significance” (official)
Taounate – The pardon granted by HM King Mohammed VI to farmers in the province of Taounate involved in cases related to the illicit cultivation of cannabis is a decision with a profound humanist scope, said, Tuesday, the provincial director of the National Agency for the Regulation of Activities Relating to Cannabis (ANRAC) in Taounate, Mr. Ihssane Sidki.
The royal decision on the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People is a multidimensional and humanist initiative above all, with a social and economic scope, Mr. Sidki stressed in a statement to MAP.
He added that farmers working in the cannabis sector in Taounate province are particularly happy with this royal solicitude, noting that a number of cooperative presidents have flocked to the provincial headquarters of ANRAC for ample information on the procedures for joining farmers who have not benefited from the measures launched by the agency over the past two years for having committed crimes related to working in the cannabis sector without authorization.
He continued that for those who were facing prosecution, the royal pardon brought great relief to farmers and their families.
According to data from the province of Taounate, some 1,341 people from the province benefited from the pardon that HM King Mohammed VI was kind enough to grant to 4,831 individuals convicted, prosecuted or wanted in cases related to the cultivation of cannabis, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.
Of this total, 45 people were in detention, 1,083 were free and 213 individuals were wanted.
