In the Papampatti area near Sulur in Coimbatore district, cannabis plants have suddenly grown on roadsides and in ponds. Grown cannabis plants have begun to smell. The shocked people of the area have lodged a complaint with the police. The police conducted an investigation based on the complaint they lodged.
During the search, the police found cannabis plants growing nearby and uprooted them and set them on fire. People in the area said that there were a lot of northern workers in their area and that cannabis was being sold in the area targeting them.
They also said that the seeds in the cannabis used and discarded by northern workers may have sprouted and grown into cannabis plants. The people of the area have demanded that the Sulur police take serious action to eradicate more cannabis.
