A CCTV camera filmed the violent assault of an octogenarian by three young people on Monday in Cannes. We see the old lady walking quietly, her shopping basket in her hand, and being overtaken by a young man who gives her a violent blow to the back of the head, under the gaze of two other individuals. While the victim was lying on the ground, visibly inanimate, one of the three men grabbed his handbag, then they fled.
On Twitter, the video of the attack has been relayed many times by politicians, mostly right-wing and far-right, including the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes Éric Ciotti who asked for the opening of a “center closed education.
Hospitalized, the victim suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage
The attack would have taken place Monday around noon and a half in Cannes-la-Bocca, according to Nice-Matin. It was the caretaker of the residence who found the 89-year-old woman unconscious and notified the police after viewing the CCTV images. The three attackers, minors, had all been arrested by the police on Wednesday and confessed, without expressing any real regret or awareness of the seriousness of the facts.
