The U.S. family arrived in Israel as tourists. As they gazed through the historic Golan Heights, they discovered an artillery shell. The unexploded ordnance was a remnant of Israel’s war with Syria in 1967 and 1973 to capture the Golan Heights.

When they returned to the US, they stuffed it in their bag. The bag was opened when Ben-Gurion arrived at the airport for a security check. The passengers in front and behind were frightened. A man who tried to run over the top of a conveyor belt fell and was injured. The traveling family explained things and allowed them to continue their journey.
