Various sources claim that Capcom is facing difficulties in porting its video games to Xbox due to compatibility and technology issues. Particularly, games that use the MT Framework game engine have completely bypassed Xbox.
According to the latest episode of The Two Xbox podcast, Microsoft has lost control over fighting game communities, including Street Fighter 5. Jez Corden, a host of The Two Xbox podcast, was informed that Microsoft is actively working with Capcom to resolve ongoing issues with MT Framework. Jex also mentions Microsoft’s and Capcom’s shortcomings with the absence of Capcom titles on Xbox due to technical constraints.
For those who don’t know, the MT (Multi-Thread) Framework is Capcom’s internal game engine, renowned for its high performance and better resource utilization. Popular Capcom games, including the Marvel vs. Capcom series and the Monster Hunter Stories series, were developed using MT Framework, and both are absent on Xbox.
Although the podcast highlighted the MT Framework issue on Xbox, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim. Neither Microsoft nor Capcom has commented on the matter. It is also important to note that while MT Framework may be a reason for the exclusion of certain titles, it is not the sole reason.
In any case, if the rumors are true, with active involvement from Microsoft, more Capcom games may make their way to Xbox.
