At the beginning of the current generation of consoles, multiple video game companies announced that their next titles would be increasing in price by $60 a $70in a movement that sparked great controversy among the players due to the investment of money in this hobby. However, one of the companies that was resisting change was Capcomdevelopers of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.

However, it seems that things will change in the future. According to a report from Nikkei, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, president of Capcom, was present at the recent edition of the Tokyo Game Show, where he addressed numerous topics, outlining the possibility of raising the price of their games due to the high development costs.

DO NOT MISS IT:

For Tsujimoto, game prices «should reflect rising costs» since they are currently not cheap. He gave an example that they become 100 higher than in the days of the Famicom (NES). He also emphasized that if this possibility occurs, developers’ salaries should increase, in order to continue attracting talented people.

Capcom has had a good streak of financial results for several years, which has caused the salaries of its employees in Japan to increase by up to 30%. Additionally, a bonus system was introduced. Resident Evil has become, along with Monster Hunter, the company’s most profitable franchises. MH: World has sold 19 million units, while the RE2 remake sold 12.60 million units.
