A 45-year-old runner died of a heart attack in Cape Town on Tuesday. The server capetownetc reported on Thursday, according to which it was a Czech tourist who was on vacation and collapsed while running. Information about the death of a Czech citizen in South Africa was confirmed to ČTK by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“People who saw this immediately rushed to his aid and called the emergency services. They gave him CPR and tried to resuscitate him while they waited for paramedics to arrive.” said Councilor Nicola Jowell.
Paramedics were unable to revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being investigated by the police, who have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
“We can confirm that a Czech citizen died in South Africa. The representative office is in contact with his South African employer and family. We will not release further details out of consideration for the family.” Mariana Wernerová from the Department of Communications of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to a question from ČTK.
