Capital Attack: Justice Department May Sue Trump – NEWS 360 – WORLD

Washington: The Department of Justice may file a case against former US President Donald Trump in the capital attack case on January 6, 2021. The department made its case in federal court in Washington. But the department said that they are not clarifying whether Trump is guilty or not in the case.

The court was seeking the Justice Department’s opinion based on the case filed by two policemen and 11 legislators who were injured in the attack. The department told the court that while a president is protected by the law for his official acts in office, those outside his official duties are not.

A congressional panel that previously investigated Trump recommended criminal charges against Trump to the Justice Department in December. After Trump lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Trump supporters attacked the Capitol, the US Parliament building.
