Captured at Chernobyl; Russia takes Ukrainian troops hostage

Some Ukrainian soldiers have reportedly been taken hostage after Russia took control of Chernobyl, a strategic area that includes the old nuclear plant. Russia is mainly attacking Ukraine’s strategic military bases. Ukraine says Russian troops are attacking populated areas. Ukraine itself has confirmed that 13 civilians and 9 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed.

In the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine war, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Modi demanded that the ongoing dispute between Russia and NATO be resolved through talks as soon as possible.

Efforts are underway to repatriate Indians stranded in Ukraine in collaboration with border countries. For this, India sent a special team to the border countries of Ukraine. Special teams were sent to Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
