Car bombing in Samaria: Is Israel in a wave of terrorist attacks?

Tonight (Sunday), at 1:20, a 16-year-old terrorist arrived in a vehicle at the Tanim crossing in Samaria, on Road 444 east toward the Avnei Hefetz and Einav settlements, and carried out a car bomb attack on the spot.

The terrorist collided with his car at the checkpoint at the entrance to the crossing, which is open 24 hours a day, and hit one of the security guards who was seriously injured. Additional security guards who were at the scene responded quickly, shot the terrorist and neutralized him. The security guard was taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer and in the morning he was admitted for surgery, as far as is known there is no danger to his life.

MDA reported that the medical staff who arrived at the scene evacuated the security guard, about 34 years old, to the hospital, which is in a difficult but stable and conscious condition, and when he suffers injuries to his limbs, chest and head.

The driver of the vehicle was shot and killed.

The director general of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Eshel, visited the fig crossing during the night and a preliminary investigation of the attack is underway. “Quickly, just as we practice them – strive for contact, hit the terrorist and end the incident within seconds. We are investigating the circumstances of the incident and will consider further steps to improve security for the security guards.”
