Laughlin, Nevada – A shocking home surveillance video captured the moment a car careened into a backyard, went airborne, and ejected the driver into a private pool on December 15. The incident, which unfolded with terrifying speed, left a homeowner reeling and a driver fortunate to be alive.
Backyard Oasis Turned Chaos
A driver’s unexpected plunge into a Nevada pool highlights the unpredictable nature of traffic accidents and the potential for devastating consequences.
- Police reports indicate the driver accelerated before the crash.
- The vehicle became airborne, striking a pool house before landing near the pool.
- The homeowner discovered the wreckage and a woman floating in her pool.
- The driver was conscious and received medical attention at an Arizona hospital.
According to police and a crash report, the driver accelerated moments before failing to stop and crashing through a concrete wall. The impact sent the white vehicle spinning through the air in the darkness, ultimately colliding with the roof of a backyard pool house before coming to rest on the poolside property.

Homeowner Cletis Reed described hearing a crash “like a freight train” and rushing outside to find her yard demolished and a woman floating in her pool. “I thought something had happened in the street, and I came out to see my entire yard destroyed,” Reed said. “Everything just blew up. The patio is on the ground, the lady is floating in my pool.”
Reed recounted being moments away from entering her hot tub, located near the collapsed wall. “I lifted the cover and thought I had to say something to my wife,” she said. “By the grace of God, I am here. If I had been there, I would have died.”
The driver landed in the shallow end of the pool, which Reed noted is only about waist deep and surrounded by concrete and block walls. “She was blessed, and I was blessed,” Reed added.
Reed and others pulled the driver from the water, finding her conscious but disoriented and moaning. Approximately 15 minutes later, police began questioning her while she was still standing.

Removing the vehicle required a tow truck and a crane due to its awkward position. Reed shared that she had invested her retirement savings into creating the backyard oasis, including the resort-style pool.
The accident caused extensive damage, destroying the patio and contaminating the 25,000-gallon pool with motor oil. Reed estimates repairs could reach nearly $300,000, and the pool may require complete draining.
The driver was transported to a hospital in Arizona for medical attention. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been contacted for further comment.
