DEFINITION – Sales of electric cars have decreased in Europe and North America. Manufacturers are forced to revise their plans.

The race to go electric has gotten off to a jump start in the car industry after the Covid crisis. Authorities are competing to be the first to move to 100% electric sales. And so far, the effort has gone well. By 2023, battery-powered cars see sales increase by 37% a year in Europe. Then they represent 14.6% of the market, according to figures from ACEA (Association of European Automobile Manufacturers). But in the first half of 2024, the growth of this market is limited to 1.3% on the Old Company. In the United States, the market share of battery vehicles was only 8.1% in August.

Today, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment are decreasing. In North America and in Europe. Consumers don’t seem to be in a rush to buy a fully electric car, despite policies encouraging them to do so.
