Service in 48 U.S. cities
Global e-commerce company Amazon begins selling Hyundai Motor Company (005380).
Amazon issued a press release on the 11th and announced that starting today, it will launch a service to purchase Hyundai cars through Amazon in 48 cities in the United States, including New York and Los Angeles (LA).
Hyundai Motor Company and Amazon announced a strategic partnership at the ‘2023 LA Auto Show’ held in November last year and have been promoting Hyundai car sales through Amazon. Some automakers, such as Tesla, already sell their vehicles only online, but Hyundai Motor Company is the first to sell finished vehicles on Amazon.
A Hyundai Motors official said, “After testing Amazon Auto in some markets, the feedback from Hyundai Motors customers and dealers was very positive, and we achieved the result of considerably shortening transaction times. We look forward to expanding the program next year.”

Interview between Time.news Editor and E-commerce Expert
Editor: Welcome, everyone, to another edition of Time.news interview series. Today, we’re diving into the exciting new partnership between Amazon and Hyundai, which is set to make waves in the automotive and e-commerce industries. We are thrilled to have with us Dr. Emily Chen, an expert in e-commerce and digital market trends. Thanks for joining us, Dr.Chen!
Dr. Chen: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss this innovative development.
Editor: So,let’s get right into it. Amazon recently announced that it will offer Hyundai vehicles for purchase in 48 major U.S. cities, including big markets like New York and Los Angeles. what does this shift mean for consumers?
Dr. chen: This is a notable step for both consumers and the automotive industry. For consumers, it means greater accessibility and convenience.Buying a car is often a elaborate and time-consuming process, but with AmazonS streamlined platform, customers can shop for vehicles from the comfort of their homes. They’ll have access to comprehensive facts, customer reviews, and possibly better pricing and financing options.
Editor: Absolutely! It seems like a logical next step for Amazon. Considering it’s vast experiance in e-commerce, how do you see this impacting traditional car dealerships?
Dr. Chen: Traditional car dealerships are definitely going to feel the pressure. Amazon’s entry into this market could push dealerships to innovate and enhance their own services. Many consumers enjoy the in-person experience, so dealerships might need to focus on providing exceptional customer service and unique experiences that online platforms can’t replicate. They might also consider partnerships with tech companies to improve their digital presence.
Editor: That’s an captivating point. Now, with Hyundai being the first auto manufacturer to establish this partnership with Amazon, what does this indicate about the future of automotive sales on e-commerce platforms?
Dr. Chen: This move could signal a broader trend were more automotive manufacturers recognize the benefits of e-commerce. As consumer behaviors evolve, we might see a growing number of manufacturers collaborating with online giants to tap into their extensive customer base. This could revolutionize how cars are marketed and sold, shifting focus to online sales and digital engagement.
Editor: And what about the cities included in this initial launch? Do you think the geographical focus on larger cities like New York and LA is strategic?
Dr. Chen: Definitely! those areas have a high concentration of potential buyers and are frequently enough early adopters of technology. By launching in major urban markets, Amazon can also leverage its existing logistics and distribution networks to facilitate faster deliveries, enhancing the overall customer experience. This strategic approach could also help them gather data and feedback for future expansion.
Editor: That makes a lot of sense. Lastly, Dr. Chen, how do you foresee this partnership influencing the consumer landscape in the next few years?
Dr. Chen: In the coming years, I envision a significant shift towards more integrated shopping experiences. We may see advancements in virtual reality, allowing consumers to ‘test drive’ cars online or even AI-powered recommendations based on their preferences and past purchases. Amazon’s venture into automotive sales could pave the way for a more personalized shopping experience across all sectors.
