Another automotive supplier is bankrupt: The Mürdter group of companies has had to file for bankruptcy. It was sold just a few years ago.
The automotive supplier Mürdter from Mutlangen in Baden-Württemberg is insolvent, as several media outlets have reported independently. According to the regional “Rems-Zeitung”, which cites documents from the Aalen District Court, the companies Mürdter Werkzeug- und Formenbau GmbH and Mürdter Metall- und Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH of the group have filed for insolvency.
According to the “Rems-Zeitung”, the insolvency administrators appointed were Patrick Wahren, a business graduate, for Mürdter Werkzeug- und Formenbau GmbH and Arndt Geiwitz, an auditor, for Mürdter Metall- und Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH, both from the law firm SGP Schneider Geiwitz & Partner. Geiwitz is considered one of the best-known insolvency administrators in Germany. He also handled the bankruptcy of the Signa Group involving the Galeria department stores.
What will happen next for the companies is still unclear. It is also not yet clear for the insolvency administrators, the matter is still too new, the “Rems-Zeitung” writes.
The reasons for the insolvency are not yet known. However, the problems of the automotive industry are likely to play a role. Recently, several automotive suppliers filed for insolvency, including the mirror manufacturer Flabeg and the rim specialist BBS.

At that time, according to media reports, the group employed 280 people in Mutlangen – including other locations, it was said, around 585. It is still unclear how many are now affected by the financial difficulties.
The Mürdter Group, which is considered a leader in its field, specializes in injection-molded parts. These include door handles, backrests and center console covers.
