A little over a year ago he had been hospitalized for a few weeks, spending many days in intensive care for Covid. Now he has taken it back, albeit in an asymptomatic form. The president of the CEI, cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, made it known that he was positive again. The conditions of the archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve are defined as good. This was communicated by the auxiliary bishop Marco Salvi, announcing that “all the pastoral commitments of the cardinal, during the Christmas period, have been canceled”. “Cardinal Bassetti – said the prelate according to what is read in a note from the diocese -, after the onset of some flu symptoms, underwent a molecular swab on the morning of 25 December, proving positive for Covid-19”. Bassetti “immediately isolated himself in his apartment in the archbishopric and is currently asymptomatic, being constantly monitored” announced Monsignor Salvi. In the afternoon, the president of the bishops’ conference said: “At this moment I renew the invitation, which I make to myself, not to give in to despair. To the Lord who comes I entrust all the sick and those who are marked by suffering ”.
