The Priorité Santé group went to the kangaroo mother care unit at the University Hospital of Treichville, which cares for premature babies born below the recommended weight. With the support of the medical team, mothers practice body-to-body contact, which naturally helps to keep the vulnerable baby at the right temperature, allowing for the strengthening of emotional bonds. This practice, associated with breastfeeding, promotes a reduction in morbidity and mortality among low birth weight infants, particularly in areas that do not have neonatal units that meet the needs of the population.
