Health authorities in Argentina ordered the isolation of the Paraná River a cargo ship from Brazil after a crew member was reported with symptoms compatible with the mpox (monkeypox)said this Wednesday the director of Health Promotion and Prevention of Santa Fe, Analía Chumpitaz.

It is a grain ship coming from the city of Santos, in southeastern Brazilflying the Liberian flag. The number of crew members on board was not reported by authorities.

Argentina has arranged for a reinforcement of all epidemiological surveillance measuresespecially in border areas.
On August 14, the WHO issued an international public health alert regarding an outbreak of mpox that originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is currently limited to Africa. This is the most dangerous and contagious strain identified so far.
