When we allocate support, we often face the problem: who needs help more? For victims of the war in Ukraine or children who are fighting cancer? For homeless animals or families who lost their homes due to fire?
Choosing one is not easy. Therefore, Caritas invites you to share. With love, care, shelter, food. And – as a percentage of personal income tax (PIT).
1.2 percent you can distribute to several organizations rather than to one organization. For example, to allocate 0.7 percent to organization X and 0.5 percent to organization Y – this is the main message of the “It’s fun to share” campaign.
By the way, 0.5 and 0.7 percent. combination by allocating 1.2 percent GPM support is one of the rarest. According to the data of the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI), the GPM for 2022 only 279 people split the tax period. In comparison, 27,798 people split their GPM in half (0.6 percent) between two beneficiaries. 0.4 percent for three. given by 1,081 people.
“1.2 percent Allocation of GPM without division – without competition. Last year, 436,241 people allocated the entire possible share of GPM to one selected beneficiary. Therefore, the majority of those who decide to give support have a specific choice, which I am happy about. At the same time, we raise the question – how to invite those who don’t care at all?”, thinks Deimantė Bukeikaitė, head of Lithuanian Caritas.
The problem, which does not change year after year, is that more than 70 percent who can contribute to the activities of non-governmental organizations do not provide support to anyone at all. Last year, there were even 77 percent of such residents. As a result, according to VMI calculations, 35 million were not distributed to the beneficiaries. euros.
“How to “unlock” those 77 percent Willingness of Lithuanian people to allocate 1.2 GPM? I don’t believe that those people don’t care about those who have no bread, those who suffer from poverty, violence, those who suffer from addictions, those who experience loneliness, those who have lost their homes and those who are fleeing from war. If 35 million euros would reach non-governmental organizations – imagine how many tens of thousands of people would receive the necessary help throughout Lithuania!” – says D. Bukeikaitė.
Thanking everyone who donates their GPM to one or several organizations every year, the head of Caritas Lithuania invites you to find at least 5 people from those 77% in your environment. non-distributors’ share of GPM and help assign support that costs nothing: “Good examples are contagious, and, as Caritas says, it’s more fun to share.”
VMI reminds that applications for allocating a part of GPM support are submitted only electronically, with the help of a specially designed wizard in the EDS electronic declaration system (https://deklaravimas.vmi.lt/lt/Pradinis_Prisijungimo_puslapis/Prisijungimasperisorinessistemas.aspx.) until May 2.
