Real Madrid celebrated on Wednesday at the Camp Nou and returned from there with a resounding 0:4 at the expense of the arch rival Barcelona on the way to the final of the Copa del Rey in Spain. The Catalans are expected to win the championship, but the Blancos can take solace in the fact that they at least prevented them from winning the double and maybe end the season with their own double in light of the promotion to the final against Osasuna and the fact that in the Champions League they have two meetings against Chelsea.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Villarreal (Saturday, 22:00), four days before the meeting against Lampard and the Blues in the quarter-finals, Ancelotti attended a press conference today and was asked again about his future, given the possibility that he will end his career with the team at the end of the season.
“After 1,272 games I don’t have to prove anything,” declared Ancelotti, “but for me coaching in Barcelona is not an option. I have to respect my history and that of the club. I am in the best club in the world, I am loved and I feel safe, so there is no reason for me to change Real Madrid in Barcelona.”
