The now former coordinator of the party in Azcapotzalco, Carlos Joaquín Fernández Tinoco resigned from Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) and his candidacy for local deputy, to join Santiago Taboada’s team.
This was announced this Tuesday during a rally at the mayor’s office, where from Taboada he received the blue vest of the “Va x la CDMX” coalition.

“I announce my decline from the candidacy for representation to the local Congress for district 5 Miguel Hidalgo-Azcapotzalco, to give my absolute support and collaboration to Santiago Taboada,” he announced.
At the event, Fernández Tinoco joined the Taboada team along with 7 other leaders of the Citizen Movement:
•José Velardo Fonseca, candidate for the deputyship formula in district five.
•Erick Aedo, owner of the council in Miguel Hidalgo.
•Mayra Eréndira López, substitute for the councilor in Miguel Hidalgo.
•Ximena Sosa, substitute for the council.
•Luis Espinoza, councilor owner in Azcapotzalco.
•Claudia Hernández, alternate councilor.
•Carlos Calderón, member of MC.

Who is Carlos Fernando Tinoco?
In January 2023, Carlos Fernández Tinoco was presented as an MC deputy in the Congress of Mexico City. With the orange party he competed as a candidate for local deputy for district V Azcapotzalco-Miguel Hidalgo in the current electoral process.
Before his arrival at MC, he marched through the ranks of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).

Questioned about the history of his change of benches, the former Emecist ruled out that it could diminish his credibility.
“No. My votes have been consistent with the opposition. We are joining a real, true change. I don’t want to divide the rest of the opposition. I think it is with high vision,” he commented to 24 Horas.
