Carlos Rabascall joined the Democratic Left on July 27, 2024. Within the party’s ranks there are divided opinions and even those who reject the arrival of the journalist who was a candidate for vice-presidency for Correísmo and could be a candidate for the Presidency of Ecuador.

On July 27, 2024, Carlos Rabascall joined the Democratic Left (ID). He did so alongside the president of the ID, Analía Ledesma, who has indicated that in the coming weeks the party will define its presidential candidate for the 2025 elections.

There was unrest during the membership event. In fact, there were those who shouted that the membership of Rabascall, former vice-presidential candidate of Correísmo, meant “selling out the movement” and there were even shouts of “out, Rabascall.”

ID assemblyman Dalton Bacigalupo wrote his displeasure on his X account and announced his disaffiliation from the party.

However, at the affiliation event Rabascall was seen close to Ledesma as well as the assembly members Marlon Cadena and Yeseña Guamani.

Carlos Xavier Rabascall Salazar, Journalist, commercial engineer, businessman and political consultant, said that if he were President he would start a fight against insecurity and in economic matters he showed his rejection of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). (AVV)
