Producer Carlos Sobera (Barakaldo, Vizcaya, 63 years old) admits that in ‘The first days’ he has learned about the difference in love. Eight years after his first show, Basque now hosts ‘Hotel first dates’ (This Tuesday at 10:50 pm on Telecinco), a new version of the popular ‘dating show’ where singles go to a hotel in Moraira (Alicante) to come. its good half or whatever is on top. The program continues with its daily stream on Cuatro, which will focus on the arrival of David Broncano on TVE in September.
-Do you stay young at the hotel?
Even if you have a preconceived idea about what will happen, when the aliens arrive at the hotel, they enter and completely disarm because in the end they will reveal themselves very much. They open their hearts, they say what kind of partner they want, what kind of sexual tastes they have, how they want their relationship to be, what they think about politics, what they think about life… Then their brain structure changes completely. . In the case of the hotel, I believe that many, if not all, have come with an open mind and spirit.
-The ‘First Days’ representation of the diversity of the participants has been praised. Has the program helped you open your mind?
Everything is open to me. The good thing about this program is that you develop with it, you learn new things, which I don’t know about all of them either and I am an experienced person. It helps you take the pulse of society a little. I have learned many things in these eight years, many of which I know by heart.
– Has a couple from the program invited you to their wedding?
At first we had a few invitations, everyone insisted, but of course, as we always say no, I think the word spread and they didn’t invite us anymore. I thought some of my friends went to the wedding, but I told them that this place is reserved for family and real friends, it doesn’t make sense for us to go. Couples understand it.
-How do you work with your daughter-in-law Arianna Aragón?
I already have experience with Ari because he was with me in ‘The Right Price’. You have a very good voice and it suits absolutely everything. That is, he is very respectful of the community he is in, he practices, he is very disciplined, he loves this work, he is passionate about it and therefore he never has an argument, the opposite. It is a pure flavor. Working with Ari was amazing, with many singles falling in love with him. I had to approach them to tell them to focus on their partner and leave my guardians alone (laughs).
Starting in September, ‘First Days’ faced competition from Broncano. Do you plan to renew the program in the face of stiff competition?
I think they have to organize themselves, because they all do the same thing (‘El hormiguero’ on Antena 3 and the new formats of David Broncano on TVE and Carlos Latre on Telecinco). We are the only different offer. They, however, all do the same thing.
Have you enjoyed ‘All Star Survivors’?
In fact, it also has a special interest for me because I know many of the people involved in the writing directly. They have been my collaborators or have been in one of the six editions I have made of ‘The Remains’. I was glad not to be there at the ‘No Man’s Land’ galas.
-You don’t stop chain projects in Mediaset and others. What is the secret to endure with a good face and humor?
The secret is Basque genetics. I am completely convinced. Only we Basques can do this (laughs) No, it’s a passion for my work. I think people notice that too. I am passionate about the work I do, I have a great time. I don’t care if I’m on the show ‘Survivor’, or in a hotel, or in a restaurant, or do a competition. I especially enjoy contact with people, I have a great time. So, since I am passionate about it, I live passionately and joyfully.
– How are your holidays presented?
Now in August I am going on vacation to then face everything that is on Telecinco with the theater work that I will present in October. I will enjoy six weeks of beach time…
