The Association of Russian Automakers (UAR) sent a letter to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a proposal to maintain export duties on metal products for 2022, Vedomosti found out. The association includes AvtoVAZ, Kamaz, GAZ Group, Sollers, Renault Russia, MAZ and Avtotor, the chairman of the UAR is the general director of Kamaz Sergey Kogogin. UAR executive director Igor Korovkin confirmed to Vedomosti that the letter had been sent. According to him, it is necessary to regulate prices for metal within the country for the next year, and metallurgists should primarily work for the domestic market.

This topic was raised by Sergey Gromak, AvtoVAZ vice president for external relations and interaction with shareholders, speaking at a round table in the Federation Council on November 26. As soon as the effect of export duties on metals ends, an explosive rise in prices for them will begin again and, as a result, an increase in prices for cars, he said (his words were reported by Interfax). At the same time, the top manager asked the government to extend the export duties until 2022. Gromak added that AvtoVAZ and other auto concerns had already made a request to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
