The owner and oenologist of Vinyes d’Olivardots de Capmany, Carme Casacubertahas been unanimously elected this new Tuesday Chairwoman of the Regulatory Council from DO Empordà replacing Xavier Albertí, who has held it for the last eight years. Casacuberta thus becomes the first woman to preside over the organization since its creation in 1975. Among the objectives, it has been set to continue working for improve excellence of Empordà wines; preserve and promote the local varieties and boost sustainable agricultural practices.

“In short, we want to promote the quality and authenticity of our product and do it in a sustainable way to consolidate the prestige and value of our brand, in the nearest and farthest market, and benefit in this way to producers and consumers and at the same time generate a positive impact on the territory”, remarks Casacuberta.

The new president of DO Empordà is the owner and oenologist of the Vinyes d’Olivardots winery, which she founded in 2002 and which she currently runs with her daughter, also oenologist Carlota Pena. With a degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Barcelona and a degree in oenology from the Roviri i Virgili University, she has extensive technical training and extensive experience in winemaking.
