An alliance that has also allowed the firm to monopolize, likewise, 50% of the sales of sweeteners in the country.

Of course, the good billing data has not been transferred to the results, since the benefit was reduced from 4.7 to 1.8 millions of euros, before the decision of the company of sacrifice margins “for protect the consumer in the face of the brutal increase in costs”, according to what it points out.

From Carmencita they remember that the 2022 financial year was characterized by the tension in the prices of the entire agri-food chain after the atypical years of pandemic. A “perfect storm”, according to the firm, which led to an increase in costs throughout the food supply chain, with increases in transport, containers, packaging and raw materials at source due to climate change, the strengthening of the dollar against to the euro and the increase in prices in the energy sector.

Regarding the distribution of its sales, the company achieves 85% of its turnover in the national market, where with its Carmencita brand it is present in the main supermarkets and department stores. In the plane Internationalthe firm is present in 70 countriess on five continents and has opened a subsidiary in Florida (United States) in order to get closer to American distributors.

Centenary

The company celebrates the centenary of its foundation this year and wants to turn it into a tribute to the hundreds of Novelda families who have collaborated with the company over all these years, beginning with the founders -Jesús and Carmen-, the second generation -Luis, Jesús and Paco- and all the people who have worked in the company since 1923.

As part of its innovation policy, Carmencita will launch, on the occasion of the centenary of the company, a gourmet spice mix collection collected by various countries in new formats designed by Manuel Estrada, as well as a craft grinder developed in collaboration with the Galician ceramics factory Sargadelos.

In another product line, it has launched hand of sainta vitamin drink that counteracts hangovers and helps to recover from fatigue, caffeine-free and sugar-free.
