It was Carlo Vanzina who discovered her: she directed her before her in Via Montenapoleone (1986) then, the following year, in My First 40 Years, a film based on the autobiography of the same name by Marina Ripa di Meana. The beginning was tragic – Alt told Corriere in 2021 -. I was a model on loan to the cinema: the first day, after shooting a scene in the sauna, I thought: “I am denied”. Carlo Vanzina confessed to me two weeks later that he had thought that I was really denied, but after two weeks he had chosen me as the protagonist of “My first 40 years”. There is an anecdote linked to the role to which the actress owes her popularity: Carol also played the famous socialite in another film, The Most Beautiful in the Realm by Cesare Ferrario (1989).
